USN awards follow on contract for F-16 engine support
January 22, 2009 (by
Asif Shamim) -
The US Navy awarded Pratt & Whitney a engine support contract for its Naval Strike Air Warfare Center's F-16 Aggressors.
Pratt & Whitney new contract is a follow on to the current performance based contract signed in April 2003 and will continue providing engine readiness support for the F100-PW-220 engines which power the 14 F-16s in use by the Aggressor Squadron.
The deal valued at $4 million is for a one year extension and will mean Pratt & Whitney will provide continuous support for the F-16s located at NAS Fallon, Nevada guaranting continuously operational engines.
"Pratt & Whitney is proud to support the Navy Aggressor Squadron at the Naval Strike Air Warfare Center as they help to train and prepare naval aviators to be safe and effective during potential engagements with hostile adversaries," Mark Buongiorno, Pratt & Whitney F100 engine program director, said in a statement.
"This award illustrates the Navy's continued confidence in Pratt & Whitney's ability to provide world-class support in a performance-based contracting environment. It is an honor to support the Navy in its execution of this critical training mission."
