Danish F-16AM landing mishap

November 20, 2005 (by f16tommy) - A Danish F-16AM had a landing mishap on Thursday at Aalborg airport in the late afternoon. The aircraft ran off the runway an the nose went in to the grass.

The pilot walked away from the aircraft after the landing were the nose wheel broke. The aircraft is E-609 from Esk726, Aalborg airbase.

Aalborg Air Base shares its runway system as well as some services (Air Traffic Control etc.) with Aalborg Lufthavn.

Residing Royal Danish Air Force units are:
  • 721 Squadron which is an air transport squadron equipped with Lockheed C-130J-30 Hercules and CL-604 Challenger aircraft and
  • 726 Squadron which is a reconnaissance and fighter bomber squadron equipped with Lockheed F-16MLU Fighting Falcon aircraft.

It is also the base for Denmark's elite Jægerkorpset unit as well as the Royal Danish Air Force main depot (Hovedværksted Aalborg) for maintenance of the Lockheed F-16MLU Fighting Falcon aircraft.
