Israel's new F-16 squadron

October 4, 2005 (by Jon Sommerville) - 115 Squadron known as 'Flying Dragon Squadron' is now operational with the F-16A/B as a dedicated aggressor squadron.

The new squadron was re-activated at Uvda airbase in 2005 and flies a small amount of F-16A/B's and will soon receive AH-1 'Cobra' helicopters. Other fixed wing aircraft are expected to be assigned but the exact details have not been disclosed.

Israel hopes to lower costs of international deployments to such places as 'Red Flag' and 'Maple Flag' by reproducing these exercises at home.

At this time, The Flying Dragon Squadron has flown against F-15I's and other F-16's.
