147th Fighter Wing heading to Iraq

Several hundred members of the 147th Fighter Wing based at Ellington Field, Houston, texas are about to head to Iraq. It is the first combat deployment for the 147th since the Korean War.
They are going to provide air support for the troops on the ground in Iraq and are scheduled to come home in the early fall.
The 111th fighter squadron operates the F-16 since September 1989. In June 1992 the F-16As were replaced by F-16 air defense fighters (ADF) and in September 1996 they converted to F-16Cs.
