Dutch F-16's intercept airliner

May 2, 2004 (by s_ellebaut) - Two F-16's of the RNlAF took off from Leeuwarden AB on May 1st at 2 pm to intercept a Boeing 737 entering Dutch airspace. The airplane was flying from north to south, but didn't comply with air traffic rules.
The two Fighting Falcons took off on request of the Air Operations and Control Station "Nieuw Milligen" to identify the airliner and to contact the crew. After making sure everything was all right and that the plane left Dutch airspace the F-16's returned home.

The Vipers approached the airliner with a speed over 1000 km/h thus breaking the sound barrier.
