Captain Mariam Hassan Salem Al Mansouri has become the first Emirati female pilot to serve in the UAE Air Force and may very well be the first Gulf woman to enjoy the title. She is 35 and flies the F-16 block 60 aircraft as a squadron commander.

First of 36 F-16s to be handed over to Iraq

Today Lockheed Martin will deliver the first of 36 F-16s to Iraq, giving Iraq the capability of defending its "3.600km of borders" according to Iraqi Ambassador Lukman Faily. Baghdad's envoy traveled to Fort Worth for the ceremony at which Lockheed and the U.S. government will formally deliver the first F-16 to Iraq.
