The aircraft caught fire right after take off from Osan AB. The pilot, Capt. Kermis, circled around and was able to land. The core spray bar broke off and started spraying fuel in the enging bay. Due to the fire the rudder ISA also failed resulting in loss of rudder control during landing. It was a class A mishap but the plane was repaired.
My jet as DCC and a true D Model. Always broken for the most random possible reasons and has been responsible for keeping me on the line for 12 hours more times than I care to mention. A hanger queen and a real bitch. But recently she's turned a corner and flies regular code 1. Of course, now that I'm leaving.
AAHHH!! Korea, it was a bus but it flew like a champ. Hardly any if ever problems with this jet. 1994, it later came out that Clinton almost went to war with N. Korea while we were there. Supposedly it was on until N.Korea gave into consessions at the last moment.
Smitty's, The Dragon, Heavy Metal Club. Working Hard and playing hard.
