Col. Phillips was a member of the first operational F-16 squadron, the 4th Tactical Fighter Squadron Fightin' Fuujins, from 1980 to 1983. He then was an F-16 IP in the 63rd TFTS Panthers from 1983 to 1986. After that, he was the Chief F-16 Training Branch, TAC HQ, from 1986 to 1989 and the Ops Officer for the 80th TFS Juvats in 1989. From 1989 to 1991 he was the squadron commander for the 36 FS Flying Fiends and his last assignments in the USAF was in a staff position. He finally retired in 1997. | ||
