Was in the 33rd at Shaw from 1986 to 1989. Kai gave me a ride to work a few times when my car was broke down. Had to ride on his motorcycle because he did not own a car. He still comes to mind once in a while.

Thought of Kai this morning. Figured I'd look him up. Sad day to find out he is gone. Was great guy to be around. Knew him at Shaw AFB. In '81, early '82. Sad day. Riding that Norton in heaven my brother.

Good Airman

I'm assuming a little here by saying I worked with a Kai Kastrup at Shaw AFB in the early 80's, if this is the same Kai we both were assigned to the Jet Engine Intermediate Maintenace section. We had J-79 engines/RF-4C aircraft at first but transitioned to F-100 engines/F-16 aircraft. If I remember correctly Kai was one of the airman on my maintenance crew. He always had a smile on his face and was a great mechanic. I lost track of him as I moved on to Quality Assurance and then Test Cell/Hush House before a PCS to Moody in 86. My condolences to his family, friends and co-workers. He was one of the men I would want on my team when tasked to get the job done!
