The jet crashed one minute after take-off from Holloman AFB around 11:44 local time. The pilot ejected safely. The accident was caused by a turned vane in the fifth stage of the engine. This disrupted airflow and let to a loss of trust on the engine.

Crashed at Holloman Air Force Base

On 30 April 2024, at approximately 1144 local time, an F-16C with tail number (T/N) 87-0358 assigned to the 49th Wing, Holloman Air Force Base (AFB), New Mexico, crashed six and a half nautical miles southwest of the departure end of Holloman AFB Runway 25.
