I am trying to improve the cockpit of my F-35 model for Flight Simulator / Lockheed Martin Prepare3D - which was previously based on the AA-1 cockpit...
Does anyone know what is the function of the three knobs in the "Master Arm" panel (below the HMD control buttons and on the side of the backup ADI)?
Apart from the Master Arm switch, there are three knobs, apparently labeled (top to bottom) A ; B and C/BUR.... but I cannot figure out what they do...

I was hoping for a better graphic/photo than this one of the 'F-35 travel sim':

Correct, I am talking about these three knobs - sorry about the lack of image... I was trying to find the one from which I read the labels...

Any reason why you don't just fix it since your updating things? They're not there in the production jets...by the way, this is the AA-1 cockpit.........

'checksixx' that is the thing I guess. Does AA-1 reflect the production cockpit. I have some other photos which show different buttons but I have no way of knowing what is what here in OzLand via TinterNet. Other photos to follow....

For example the FMS has the [similar] knobs as shown on my photos above. Why is this? I would have thought that the FMS will faithfully replicate the production cockpit? http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5221/5631 ... e2d2_o.jpg

The 'AA-1' cockpit above at: http://www.codeonemagazine.com/images/m ... 7_7030.JPG does not show anything really much in that region due to the lack of image quality - however it is different for sure.

This PPT (I think I made it into a PDF to be posted in the HMDS thread?) has the 'AA-1' cockpit as a reference:

The LM photo is clear enough to show nothing there. It was my understanding this was blanked out on production jets. Perhaps it depends on the model though. Based on the second photo which is on the production line, well into production. The third pic is a F-35B...blanked out panel. So not sure now....

'checksixx' we have been told a zillion times (I might exaggerate) that the cockpits of the three F-35 variants are the same with ONLY the STOVL MODE BUTTON bringing different results when pressed in the three cockpits: STOVL MODE IN/OUT, Emergency Hook OUT, PROPER HOOK down and up.

Having Zoomed in on your two photos above (and I'm not sure of the jets shown) as a guess I reckon we see TEST jets with different setups for their test 'paddles' that over ride normal settings and for example weapon testing (just a guess mind).

Does the information for your two photos say what the jets shown are in the system?

I'm aware....then explain the difference between the second photo and the third photo. Both are PRODUCTION jets.

I do not need to explain - you are making claims. I have no idea as I have stated. You are making claims - I can only guess.

This is the info for the Leon Panetta photo above:
"Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta and U.S. Rep. Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland look at the cockpit of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter with Navy Capt. Erik "Rock" Etz on Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md., Jan. 20, 2012. Panetta and Hoyer toured several facilities related to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, which is in its test phases at the base. DOD photo by Erin A. Kirk-Cuomo" http://www.defense.gov/DODCMSShare/News ... 5-017c.jpg

And we can guess that it is an F-35B so it is a TEST F-35B?
Panetta Lifts F-35 Fighter Variant Probation
20 Jan 2013 By Army Sgt. 1st Class Tyrone C. Marshall Jr.; American Forces Press Service

"NAVAL AIR STATION PATUXENT RIVER, Md., Jan. 20, 2012 – Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta announced today he’s lifted probation from the Short Takeoff, Vertical Landing variant of the fifth generation F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter which is absolutely vital to maintaining air superiority...."

The third 'checksixx' photo with the laughing pilot seems to have 'Jon Beesley' painted on the sill? Which aircraft has that?

That photo URL suggests it is an F-35B: https://justinwrites.files.wordpress.co ... stovl1.jpg

Probably a few F-35 variants have 'Jon Beesley' on the sill - here it is on AA-1 apparently: http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/a4093/4311151/ at http://pop.h-cdn.co/assets/cm/15/06/54c ... 0-0308.jpg see attached JPG

CODE ONE website has this info about the 'Jon Beesley' photo: http://www.codeonemagazine.com/images/m ... 7_3047.JPG
"The F-35 Lightning II [AA-1?] took to the air for the first time on 15 December 2006 with chief test pilot Jon Beesley at the controls...."

Does anyone see volume control knobs anywhere else in the cockpit?

AA-1 looks like it has a standard single radio control panel while the other, later jets have integrated the radios into the CNI/MFD (upper right MFD on check's sim pic) and therefore only need volume control.

Just my caveman logic.

Of note, did anyone else notice the switch with the red container around it right above the jettison select? It's only in one pic (the one with Panetta) of all the ones on the thread and I couldn't find another pic of it on google.

Thanks "caveman" my logic would be subhuman downunder. Upside down and all that. Here is some startling info from CODE ONE long ago....
