Canada and the CF-35

From military perpective there is no other sane option available really. But Canada has one of the most broken acquisition systems and Canadian politicians have done incredibly dumb things in the past when it comes to military acquisitions.

The F-35 is literally the ONLY option for Canada, we know it, they know it, LM knows it, the US Government knows it etc - but the Canadian Government doesn't want to be seen by its voters to be "rewarding Trump" by buying it hence this charade - its just that simple/stupid, its literally cutting your nose off to spite your face etc.

I don't think most Canadians understand the backlash that would occur. If, they canceled the F-35 deal and not just from the US.

I fully agree with you!
I have this feeling that the Canadian government will or could make an announcement/decision about this - hopefully the only logical choice one which is to go with a full F-35 order - during next month and close to Christmas. This way the population will be busy with the holidays and any "backlash" to the government (Government seen by its voters to be "rewarding Trump") might be mitigated or even quickly forgotten.
At the same time and also also next month, LM is set to visit L3Harris MAS (located in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada) in order to set there a major F-35 maintenance depot for Canadian F-35s as well as some US F-35s (currently the CF-18 maintenance depot), this in case Canada goes with a full F-35 order.
So, lets see if my "gut feeling" pans out.
