UK MOD in a muddle over F-35C
There are a few other stories probably in this F-35 forum about USMC Harriers aboard INVINCIBLE CLASS decks. By the By Art Nalls is selling or has sold his Harrier Collection. Art did some great JumpYdeSki testing on various ships back in time.

Now what is 'something like that'? It was found very early on in F-35B development that it would not fit aboard the INVINCIBLE CLASS and with them being broken up there was no point to make the INVINCIBLES F-35B worthy. However one worthy SPANYARD (yes I know) built the JCI with an eye to 'one day' accommodate the F-35B (with data known at that early time in development). That JUAN CARLOS 1st LHD went on to be built TWICE for the RAN (no intention for F-35Bs).
Alackram Alarum there is a thread about F-35B compatible NON-US ships with lots of info about them as well as the newbies in Asia for Japan and South Korea and other p'raps. 61 forum pages of excellent goodness about such stuff:

'Real Bombs' = 'Live Bombs'? Search this thread using 'bomb' : viewtopic.php?f=58&t=15969&p=429591&hilit=bomb#p429591 for download/file.php?id=31756 otherwise on 18 Oct 2018 tests: download/file.php?id=28595
Live bombs will have been tested before today especially assembly & transport on QE weapon system gear etc.

"...One innovation involves the system for delivering missiles and bombs from the armoury to the aircraft. This has always been the responsibility of naval officers, but on HMS Elizabeth a machine will undertake the work. "We have this automated weapon hunting system that picks the bomb off the shelf, takes it up to an area where human beings put fins on it, and then the system will take it up to the flight deck. That is a world of difference to how the Americans do things, and indeed most other nations, where there are people in the magazine. There is a lot to think about."..." http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013 ... -deterrent

IIRC those blue ones are concrete bombs.

Season 2 of UK's biggest war ship shows an F-35 ceremoniously drops 4 of them into the sea.

Agree however TESTing earlier will have included LIVE bombs. No one gets into LIVE weapons especially using new equipment without thorough testing first with inert then live stuff beforehand. No one left MARINES to test the live ones.
