By January 5, 2022 it should be above 500,000 flight hours (and maybe by a significant margin.) Very impressive progress.

Indeed, thank you for that! Very well written article and addressed almost all critics (past and present) already TEN years ago...
Good quote:
There are people who maintain that the F-35 is an unnecessary weapon system. When the author discussed this with Jon Beesley he shared his own view: "Lockheed Martin was asked to build a combat aircraft to address a very real need. Sometimes people conjecture, typically without much knowledge, that threats will evolve to negate the things that fifth generation aeroplanes bring. Well, anything that will not work because of the physics involved, against a fifth generation aeroplane will be an orded of magnitude more effective against a current generation aeroplane, and so that argument says that you should have probably done it sooner, and should do it more"

I just noticed that an average sortie duration for all F-35 sorties of all F-35 models in history have been about 1.75 hours or 1 hour and 44 minutes. I think this is very long average sortie duration. For example this document:
https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/ADA331910.pdf
says that average sortie duration for F-15C/Ds was about 1.5 hours worldwide in 1990s. F-16C/Ds were about 1.35 hours during the same period. F-15E in 1990s was very similar to all F-35 sorties in history. Given that early sortie durations were likely rather short lowering the average sortie duration, I think this is extremely impressive fact. IMO, this definitely further supports the fact that F-35 has extremely impressive range/endurance compared to any 4th gen fighter jet.
