Yes and yes, although it's maneuverability would be limited - rather than having to point the nose directly on the enemy you could probably hit targets within a ~30 degree angle off bore.

30 degree is too big , probably 2-3 degree maximum

2-3 deg is HUGE! That would take a lot of the fine tracking requirements out of the equation and would allow a passing snapshot to land 2-4 center of mass hits.

It would be cool to see that applied to the 25mm ammo for the F-35 :D . It would be too cost prohibitive though :(

I agree, it would be too expensive to be used as regular ammo.

This sounds like it's better used in sniper rifles / man portable systems.

Was searching the forum about the gunpod, and came across this old thread.

Has anyone heard the status of the APEX ammunition (PGU-48 APEX or PGU-47, not sure which)?

I thought I had ready it was good-to-go for the European users of the F-35, but the US was going with either FAP or PELE. Then I seem to recall Bogden saying something that didn't sound promising vis-a-vis the APEX ammunition.
Take an F-16, stir in A-7, dollop of F-117, gob of F-22, dash of F/A-18, sprinkle with AV-8B, stir well + bake. Whaddya get? F-35.
