Vipers ready - 5 of them

Today I finished the last job on my 5 1:72 F-16's.

And here are the pics of the finished birds. All are in 1:72.

First up.

Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16BM J-650 from 313 sqn.

Build it from the Revell F-16B kit. Serial number is custom job by cutting from the MLu and B decal sheet. Amraams are from the MLu kit and the JDAM's and Lantirn pod are from the Hasegawa Weapons kit. I tinted the canopy myself. I had a huge poster of the bird on my room and it showed the gold tinted canopy. Load out is a idea i got recently when i saw J-210 from the RNLAF with test JDAM's under it's wing. Only thing different is that my bird doesn't carry a ECM pod, J-210 did,

I really like the look of the bird with canopy open.

Second kit is a USAF F-16D from the PACAF 13 TFS, 432 TFW MJ tailcode.

Base kit was the Hasegawa F-16D kit. This one is completly OOB with the exception of three weapons and the Inner and middle wing pylons and main wheels, those are from Revell. The ACMI, ALQ-184 and SUU-20 are from the Has weapons kits. I also used Astra decals on the engine and i really like the look of it.

Load out is a training load out.

Third in the row is the Belgian Air Force F-16AM FA-93 during his period at the MLU testing program OT&E.

Base kit was the Hasegawa F-16C, so i had to do mayor surgery on the cockpit, front fuselage(IFF antennas), tail and engine. Used alot of parts from the spare box that were from previous Revell F-16 builds. The LAU-129 wingtip launchers are from the Hasegawa Weapon kits. Used also Eduard PE on this one. Markings are a mix of Revell and Hasegawa, the tail markings are Revell ones. Load out are two smokewinders, build them myself.

Fourth build is a RNLAF F-16A J-142 316 sqn 40 years Anniversary.

Base kit is the Revell F-16 MLu. Completely OOB. Markings are a Mix of Dutch Decal (Anniversary markings) Revell (Overal markings) and Hasegawa (Only the arnament panel decal in front of the MLG). Load out consist of only a centerline tank cause i want to let the markings stand out and not weapons and I had a pic of the bird with only a centerline tank on it.The pilot was a bit of a funny moment when i thought that out. On the Dutch Decal sheet there were some dutch flags on it for a Catalina and I thought it would be nice to have a pilot on a boarding ladder with a dutch flag in his hand, pilot is from the Revell kits and ladder from the Hasegawa.

And the final one,

A USAF F-16C Block 40 from 555FS at Aviano Air Force Base.

Base kit was the Revell F-16C block 50/52 kit. It has a Eduard PE WAR HUD and scab plates on the fuselage. The rest is OOB. Decals are a mix from Astra Decals, Two Bobs and Revell.

Load out is a live one. The Tanks, Sidewinders and ALQ-131 come from the kit. The AMRAAMs, CBU-87 and Lantirn system comes from the Hasegawa Weapons kits. The TERs are from Hasegawa.

This was the black sheep of the birds cause the Canopy and the CBU's gave a hard time to get them in there place.

Now it's time for a little modeling break. Have to build a display table for these birda and have a lot of picture that need a album.

And i need to get some breath for the next project that involve Tomcats, 3 of them.

Hey, nice work on the aircraft!! 85-1513 is very near and dear to me...when I was at Misawa 1987-1990 I had an incentive flight in this aircraft, still have the video! Here in Fort Worth, I took my daughter to the annual 301st Christmas Party at Carswell, where the highlight is Santa Claus arriving in the back seat of an F-16. Imagine my surprise when the F-16 taxied up to the hangar, and it was 85-1513! I took a picture with it; now I have pics of the same jet, with me standing in front of it, seventeen years apart.

Did you evr build a model of it Joe? Or are you a model builder. Some of us do commission work

No, I never built a model of that jet, and I am not a model builder, although I picked up a kit and have been working (off and on, mostly off) on a Block 20 Taiwan F-16.

Detail is not a problem for me, though, as I can access all of the drawings for external markings, cockpit detail, panels, etc. One of the bennies of my job!

Yeap, same problem here. I keep most of my built-ups in boxes in the closet, since I have nowhere else to put them.

And here is a pic of the new display table I made. Table is moveable cause the doors behind it have to opened one in a while. Right now the Vipers have al the space for there own, but not for long.

Whoa! That's getting crowded in there! But well appointed, I must say.
