I like the Phantom too, is a beautiful fighter. It has served in many countries successfully... It's really great!

Yep, somewhere earlier in this thread I mentioned the Flying Tennis Court... Another classic that is about to finish up its third career is theis one. A tribute to Sir Sydney Camm...

That's a good one, but I like this desing of Sir Sydney Camm... the Supermarine Spitfire.

Yeah the Spit. We keep one flying in the Netherlands. But I hate to correct you on his one: Sydney Camm of Hawkers did not design the Spit, Reginald Mitchell did and he never saw it flying, he died of cancer shortly before the Spit proto making its maiden flight.

Sydney Camm came up with some of the best fighters ever....

You forgot the Hawk trainer. But Camm's influence ended with the first Harrier version, the P.1127. MRCA was from the outset a tri-national (at first even five-national) project, evolving after Camm's death... But all the other Camm designs, I totally agree with you...

Actually its little known but the MRCA (before it was officially called that) was deeply related to a UK project that began in 1965... Camm was involved in the Initial designs before he died in 1966 which the other countries entering the project and it became the MRCA in 1968 .

Sorry, I was mistaken when thinking that the "Spitfire" was a design of Sir Sydney Camm. The problem was that I confused the "Hurricane" with the "Spitfire"

Anyway, the Hurricane and the Spitfire are great fighters , and I like both of them...

And the Hurry bore the brunt of the Battle of Britain. There were more Hurries than Spits. The latter was publicity wise more sexy...

Why's the Eagle called the Tennis court? I'm guessing cuz of it's huge flat surface on the wing and fuselage. My fave planes are Super hornet, Tomcat and Eagle. All are very sexy planes lol

Yeap, the huge wing surface of the F/15 is responible for the nickname Flying Tennis Court.
