F-22 made vaping look cool before Millenial hipsters ruined it.

Maybe the F-22 Demo Team should reconsider doing away with low level high speed passes...it scorches the ground.

Or they could put a 100 gallon fire retardant tank in each belt bay and use the F-22F for Retired Raptor Ridiculous Rapid Forrest Fire Response. You can figure out the acronym.

R4F2R

If fact, this could be a second life for the Raptor when the curent air farce leadership retires them on 1 January 2030.

If fact, they could start the development of a bulging belly tank system to replace the opening/closing weapons bay doors and increase each tanks capacity to 101 gallons on the very day the entire Raptor inventory is retired. That would only cost 2 billion dollars and the whole package could be ready for component testing by 2050, in time for the 2070 fire season.

There are many facts in my litle supposition, based on my 36 years (since 1985) of following this program. Can you spot them?

We should put them in "long term storage" post 2030, same way as the F-22 tooling was way back when. Costing millions, it will once again result in key parts going "missing" and ultimately, our inability to make use of anything. That seems like a job tailor made for the gov't, and we can commission all sorts of studies validating its feasibility (costing millions more).

To conclude this saga, the missing Raptors will be re-activated in Chinese livery and last seen shooting down Taiwan's F-16V's over the Taiwan strait..

Hawaiian F-22 teamed with French Rafales for Exercise Wakea at Hawaii late June-early July 2021.

25 F-22s from Alaska and Hawaii are currently at Anderson AFB, Guam for Exercise Pacific Iron 2021. This will be the largest number of F-22s participating in a single exercise.

Strong message there to China, 25 Raptors isn't insignificant.

Couple them with significant numbers of F-35's in theater, and you have a pretty fearsome deterrent. I dunno how many J-20's they have, but it'll be quite a bit less if things go hot...

25 Raptors (F-22's) with say 75 Lightnings (F-35's) would be a formidable strike force. Any opponent would need a vastly larger force to have any hope of countering it......

Having your Airforce becoming flaming lawn darts obeying the laws of gravity from randomly disappearing and reappearing vague radar contacts is enough to send chills down anyone's spine.

PACAF Commander General Ken Wilsbach visited units at Guam recently during Exercise Pacific Iron 2021. The General is an F-22 qualified Command Pilot, Weapons School graduate and has over 5,000 hours of flight time mostly in fighter type jets.
