"I think the F-16 can beat just about any fighter in the world today. Of course, I'm happy to say the F-22 and F-35 are on our side!" Colonel Sonny "Blink" Blinkinsop F-16 Viper Driver.

IMO, F-16 is a great design that got to a real sweet spot for a fighter aircraft. It was small enough to be really nimble and agile while having a lot of power to zoom and boom. It also has aerodynamics very well matched to most combat speeds and altitudes. It got so close to what a human pilot could really use, that getting significantly better in BFM is not easy.

To me the Eurofighter Typhoon is better.

Yes, it's probably somewhat better in BFM, especially at higher altitudes (more thrust and bigger wing). I think of EF Typhoon like a turbocharged F-16. Basically a slick EF Typhoon is probably fairly similar to an F-22 without high-AoA capability in BFM. F-16 is still a serious adversary against both especially at lower altitudes. A lot depends on the pilot as all are so high performance machines that there isn't much room for error.

Italians have said that even their "small thrust" Block 15 F-16s were better in BFM than Eurofighter anywhere below 10 000ft MSL...

Any decent Typhoon pilot would avoid lower altitude dogfights with an F-16. The Tiffy excels in the high and fast arena. It probably has a kinematic edge over the F-16 in most realistic combat scenarios.
