IMO, the thing that impresses me the most in that video above is the F-35's acceleration performance. From the moment that the plane took off (at around 2:56) until it reached supersonic (at around 3:30) it took less than 35 seconds and all of this at a relatively low altitude (around 5,500 feet ASL).

I also assume that the version of the F-35 in the sim is the F-35A, right?

Roll rate is as good as gta4 keeps saying too ;). It's just no drama brute force and it gains altitude very easily too. I would have liked to see an over the shoulder AMRAAM shot on the rear Mig-29 though but I suppose that's not part of the standard show ;).

Selectable. Whichever variant you want. The only difference in the cockpits is that the ‘hook’ button in the A/C variants is the STOVL conversion button in the B.

Not JSF (nor LM) unique though.

Except that it is.

  1. No other fighter fuses data like the F-35 using raw data instead of just tracks, from every sensor
  2. No other fighter connects every subsystem with a fiber-optic connection in order to share raw data
  3. No other fighter has the Mission Data File needed in order to properly analyse that data
  4. No other fighter has an EODAS equivalent
  5. No other fighter displays that data to the pilot no matter where he looks (HMDS)
  6. No other fighter shares raw data with other aircraft via a high-bandwidth, LPI/LPD datalink

Will other fighters has or will get similar systems to the F-35 in the future, sure.. but for now it's a unique system.

Anyway this F-35 sub section of the F-16.net forum can be searched as above with string:

Yes, that makes all sense even because the simulator itself is software while the controllers mimic (equal to?) those on the F-35 cockpit.

However my question/assumption was about which variant was being modeled at the time when the video above was taken?
(I assume it to have been the F-35A but like you hinted it could have been another variant such as the -C).

Most likely an ‘A’, and iirc the standard ‘A’ t/o land set-up is Nellis.

At 9:03 Instructor said 'that was a 9g turn' so it is F-35A.

Your replies pretty much clears it up.

It was indeed a F-35A being simulated in the video above. Thanks for the replies :thumb:
