And how about Thunder? Did anyone already came up with this here?

IMO, Thunder would be interesting because it's a short name and at the same time very closely related to the aircraft's official name (Lightning) and also IMO it sounds good (and 'powerful' too).

Just say: "search the thread using the word THUNDER". Thusly doing so I have at least 9 hits in this thread alone if 'thunder bolt' is included. The first mention of thunder was in 2008. Use the 'Search this topic' box top left next to 'POST REPLY'.

I recently bought some F-35 swag (coins) from the 61st FS (or was it the 62nd?) snacko. I inquired about "panther" being the unofficial nickname. He indicated that it seems to be a out 50-50. Not entirely sure what that meant.

A large chunk of the UK air enthusiast community have started to call the lift fan cover either the bin lid or the toilet seat.

The F-16 was the "Electric Jet".

I still hear "Panther" the most often. Yet, personally prefer "Reaper"....

Why not "OODA" as is the OODA loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act)...........(i.e. John Boyd)

How about Stalker or synonyms: Hunter, Chaser, Trapper. Or if you're into the fauna inspired: Falconer, Ferreter.
