I wouldn't go so far as to call hardcore airsoft "milsim"ers (military-simulation) and those who take it seriously and take part in it as bad as Stolen Valor F-tards. Seriously though... if a Stolen Valor F-tard is caught out in public and a veteran or service member is around. The Service member or Veteran should have the RIGHT to give that F-tard a swift kick to the fleshy patch where their testicles are supposed to be without any legal or moral repercussions. After all if they had any they, would have actually served. So in my logic if they were to be kicked in that area by a retired or current service member; they shouldn't feel any pain and thus be okay.

Personally I don't have problems with casual airsofters. However it starts to annoy me when airsofters go into "milsim" and begin to take it WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. People who spend so much money TRYING to look and act like the REAL THING when they are not. Some even go so far as to blur out their faces as if they are actually some hardcore big dick pipe laying badass that they are trying so hard to emulate.
I know that there are veterans and current service members who do play mil-sim and take it casually treating it like a GAME, I have no problem with that. I start to have a problem when someone who has never done the real thing goes so far out of their way TRYING to be the real thing in some forest or desert somewhere for a day. Then they go back home and showing off or bragging about their "exploits" and all the highspeed gear they have.

Out of curiosity one day I decided to look on the interwebs to see what it is all about. The only "military simulation" about it is the look of it. Bunch of grown men running around with toy guns (though they look and feel like the real thing) shooting plastic pellets at each other that could barely leave a bruise (unless you're using compressed air). Running around "calling for fire" or "CASEVAC" and shouting over their radios for a QRF...



Oh yeah that is very dangerous and anyone who partakes in it surely deserves our respect. Maybe as much as these guys?



Simunitions... that brings back painful happy memories. Before that we used paint balls. Those were good (and fun) but not as effective as sim-rounds.

Now normally I am just annoyed by it. Yet when I came across that picture, who ever made it crossed the line for me. You are a grown adult who seems perfectly capable of joining the military, so why don't you? If you're trying SO HARD and putting that much effort into it, WHY DON'T YOU JUST DO THE REAL THING? Yes their are duties and jobs in the military that are not glamorous. We don't go out on some large 1 week FTX between weekends.

So let me have a retort for what is written on that F-tarded picture... specifically to the civilians who have no prior or current service in the military or even LE.

Hey I'll have you know, I've spent many an hour playing Starcraft, and during that time I've had to make the hard, agonizing decision many times about whether or not to send Marines in into a danger situation, potentially to their deaths. It's not an easy decision to make, I'll tell you. Obviously I should get promoted.

I didn't know you needed to be jump qualified or knew how to repel to do milsim.



I understand and get passion come on... you're not SF, you're not infantry. Hell I doubt they even went to BCT and AIT. When I was in the Army I didn't put this much thought or passion into prep for some FTX. I had my packing list, my TA-50, and whatever extra personal items I felt I needed in the field or back at base camp.
It seriously gets under my skin when you people trying so hard to emulate the real thing yet do not have the intestinal and testicular fortitude to ACTUALLY BE THE REAL THING. When I was a kid I KNEW I wanted to be in the Military. When I graduated Highschool and worked up the nerve; I went to the recruiter, jumped through the hoops, and endured the pain, sweat, and hardships to finally be considered a soldier. I wasn't the most highspeed hardcore grade A personality type person but I did what I wanted and what I believed in.

Maybe its just me but I don't like when people try so hard to be something they're not when they have every opportunity and chance to actually be it.

I don't disagree, the weirdos are absolutely out there. Most of the time, they just make themselves look like idiots, and there really isn't anything I can do about it anyway. Just my personal take, not to say that being offended is any less right.

Gotta say i aswell play lot of softair but jeez...

I've run across some airsoft kids in college after I got out of the Army back in 2008. Some of them are a joke. However, some of them come from military families, are patriotic and realize even as college students, that socialism is bad and The Constitution is worth dying for. Frankly, I'd rather have 800,000+ airsoft fanatics in the ranks of our Army/USMC than an equal number Spenser Rapone types with all CIBs and Ranger scrolls. We also need to realize most folks in the US military are not billy bad@ss and there are some airsoft kids probably more fit than a large chunk of the military. I'm looking more at the zoomies and squids. So, get annoyed all you want, but hopefully asshats like Rapone and Bergdhal annoy you more. If I were a recruiter, I'd setup a booth at all the local airsoft events.

Brother, I say that affectionately. Real talk, Apache attack helicopters would be the US Army's organic and primary asset for CAS. However, If the USAF was ultimately worried about what kind of air assets we have at our disposal then they would let us own and operate A-10s. I kind of think the USAF doesn't want us doing anything above 200kts. The next generation of compound rotor and tilt rotor aircraft will see the US Army doing business above that.

Sorry, should have been more specific and said "primary fixed wing" assets. Obviously the up close and probably most effective (though historically higher risk) asset does have that spinny thing on the top of it. I'd think most in the USMC would echo your sentiments, re- AH-1Z/UH-1Y team. I don't disagree that they should turn their Hogs over to you if they don't want to fly them anymore.
