Fourth is first with training Raptors

F-22 Raptor pilots will have the edge in combat thanks to training provided by 4th Fighter Wing Airmen deployed to Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., June 13.
Eighty-seven Seymour Johnson Airmen from the base's four flying and maintenance squadrons took six F-15E Strike Eagles to Florida to provide Dissimilar Aircraft Training (DACT), for new Raptor Pilots.
The 43rd Fighter Squadron is the Raptor "schoolhouse," and a unit of Tyndall's 325th Fighter Wing.
"DACT is a large part of the Raptor syllabus, and we are providing them direct support," said Maj. Jason Pax from the 336th Fighter Squadron, Seymour Johnson AFB's lead unit for the training in which 4th Fighter Wing aircrews simulate the aircraft and tactics of our adversaries. "It is a great opportunity for us as well, fighting with the world's newest, premier fighter."
Pilots from a given unit usually provide their own threat replication, but due to the special characteristics of the F-22, Raptor pilots don't have that option, which led to the 4th FW providing the "Red Air" for this week's training.
The training runs through Friday.
