Pakistan Air Force orders F-16 Simulator
November 18, 1997 (by
Lieven Dewitte) -
Thomson Training & Simulation (TT&S), a subsidiary of Thomson CSF, has been selected by Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems to produce an F-16A simulator for the Pakistan Air Force. The decision, which marks the 16th simulator produced by TT&S for the F-16A, was made at the Dubai 97 Air Show on 18 November 1997.
The TT&S simulator is a unit level trainer that provides air to air tactical training for pilots undergoing evaluation trials and routine assessment; it features a high resolution 3 channel visual system. The Pakistan Air Force is expected to receive the equipment in early 1999.
Graham McIntyre, managing director of Thomson Training & Simulation said, "This order further establishes Thomson Training & Simulation as a major supplier in the important area of F-l6 simulation and strengthens our relationship with Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems."
TT&S F-16 simulators are already in service with air forces in SE Asia, and deliveries of F-16 MLU devices to three European air forces are expected by the end of the year.
