Northrop Grumman awarded contract for Egyptian AN/ALQ-131 ECM systems

January 9, 2000 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $39 million contract from Warner Robins Air Logistics Center to provide 39 AN/ALQ-131 ECM system Block II conversion kits to the Egyptian Air Force.
The contract includes upgrade kits, spares, in-country installation and logistics support.

The AN/ALQ-131 provides optimized self-protection jamming techniques against surface-to-air and air-to-air radar threats. Northrop Grumman has delivered more than 1, 350 systems to the U.S. Air Force and the air forces of 11 allied nations, making the AN/ALQ-131 one of the most widely used active ECM systems. The system is certified on a variety of aircraft, including the F-16, A-10, F-111, F-4, F-15 and C-130.
