140th Wing heads overseas

October 31, 2012 (by Capt Kinder Blacke) - The 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard is deploying on a three-month mission in support of the U.S. Air Force and the nation's continuing War on Terror.

"As a wing, we have been preparing for this very important deployment over the past several months and anticipate a smooth departure as we support the ongoing operations in the Middle East," said Brig. Gen. Trulan Eyre, commander of the 140th Wing.

The capabilities of the 140th Wing consist of F-16C+ fighter aircraft that will support our efforts overseas to fulfill our national objectives of national security and stability within the region.

"The men and women of the Colorado Air National Guard are honored to play an important role in our federal mission abroad, in addition to the work they do every day for the state of Colorado," said Eyre.

Because this deployment will take place over the holiday season, the men and women of the 140th Wing will miss some significant holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, and New Year's.
