Denmark to send more F-16s to Kosovo

April 14, 1999 (by Lieven Dewitte) - The Danish government will meet NATOs request to double the number of Danish air force F-16 fighter jets taking part in strikes against Yugoslavia to eight aircraft.
It is the governments intention to comply with the request and a proposal will be put to parliament on Friday. Most mainstream political parties support Denmarks participation in NATOs air campaign aimed at forcing Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic to agree to peace talks on Kosovo.

Four Danish Air Force F-16 fighters, flying missions from a base in Grazzanise in Italy, and two reserve aircraft have been part of the NATO air campaign from the beginning on March 24.
