USAF F-16 downs Yugoslav MiG-29

A U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter shot down a Yugoslav MiG-29 jet Mondaynight after the MiG rose to challenge the American warplane during NATO bombing raids The Russian-built fighter jet was downed near the border between Serbia and Bosnia.
American and allied warplanes have destroyed a number of MiG-29 and MiG-21 warplanes since the alliance began bombing raids on Serbia nearly seven weeks ago. Allied jets have shot down or destroyed with bombs more than half of Serbia's fleet of MiG-29s by now.
Defense officials said they did not have immediate details of Monday night's incident but that the F-16 used a missile to shoot down the MiG-29. It was not clear what had happened to the MiG's pilot.
