Thursday afternoon there were two F-16 fighter jets sitting at Myrtle Beach General Aviation at the former Air Force base.

One was forced to make an emergency landing there. The jets are part of the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter.

One F-16s was experiencing minor engine trouble, but both landed safely. Shaw Air Force Base is sending a maintenance crew to Myrtle Beach to check out the jet before it's returned to Shaw.

Last friday, a bird forced two F-16 fighter jets of the 107th Fighter Squadron to make an emergency landing.

One of the jets hit a bird in the air at around 1600h, causing the pilot to declare an in-flight emergency. That plane and its partner aircraft each made an emergency landing at the Selfrdige Air National Guard base in Michigan.

There were no injuries reported and the planes were able to land without incident.
