Taiwan loses fourth F-16 fighter in 18 months

A Taiwan F-16 fighter crashed during a routine training mission in southern Taiwan on Wednesday - the fourth crash of the U.S. -made warplanes in Taiwan in the past 18 months.
The F-16 was on a routine training and crashed into the ground at Chiayi airport during landing. The pilot ejected safely.
The military is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
Three F-16s have crashed since March 1998. Five pilots died in the previous crashes.
Investigations have been inconclusive but the military has said they may have been caused by malfunctions in the flight guidance systems.
