RoCAF F-16 lands after suffering electrical problem
February 8, 2006 (by
Lieven Dewitte) -
An F-16A block 20 took off from Jia Shan AB, Hua Lien, Taiwan, this morning for a routine training mission together with an F-16B. After developing a minor electrical problem it had to land for a safety check.
At 10.02h a generator warning light lit up and the pilot, Xu Hong Zhou landed at 10.22h at Ching Chuan Kang AB, Tai Chung.
The jet belonged to the 26th FS, 401st FW, Republic of China Air Force and was armed with missiles.
As Ching Chuan Kang AB had no F-16 ground crew, a crew had to be summoned from Hua Lien to make the necessary inspection and repairs.
The Air Force Command Headquarters denied reports that the F-16 had a fuel leak problem before being forced to land. "The pilot followed standard operation procedures and landed at the nearest airfield for a safety check," air force officials said.
