Misawa F-16 pilot dies from injuries

September 18, 1998 (by Lieven Dewitte) - First Lt. Brice Simpson, the pilot of the F-16 which crashed at Misawa nearly two months ago, died Sept. 17 as a result of the injuries sustained in the July 24 accident. Simpson, who was assigned to the 14th Fighter Squadron here, crashed while trying to take off on a routine training mission. He ejected from his aircraft during the incident. A memorial service for Simpson is scheduled for 4 p. m. Sept. 22 at the Misawa Air Base Chapel.
