A group of 82 pilots and maintenance personnel from the Montana Air National Guard is taking part in a two-week air-to-air training exercise out of Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Fla.
The air-to-air Weapons System Evaluation Program (WSEP), known as Combat Archer, includes Air National Guard and active-duty units from around the country.
Montana's ANG 120th Fighter Wing F-16 pilots will fly about 12 sorties a day, engaging in "dissimilar air combat" against F-15 pilots from Tyndall.
Montana ANG aircraft maintenance personnel will hone their skills by keeping eight F-16s mission-ready and by rapidly changing their weapons configurations.
