I started at Beauvechain in 350 Sqn for about one year. Worked some months in OCU Sqn (operational conversion unit). There after, I joined up guys from Florennes stopping flying Mirage V for brand news F 16's in 1988. Since 1988, I never quit this airbase except for couple of months going back to Beauvechain (OCU Sqn). I've almost reached 21 years working on this amazing aircraft and I still don't want to change! We don't get many different kind of combat aircraft in Belgium. As a matter of fact, we just get one! That's why....... I joined up F16 solo display team for the first time in 2002 for one year. Pilot display was "Puke". Funny Nickname, isn't it? Funny guy as well! I waited 3 years to join the team one more time. I'm in again for 3 years (ending in 2008). Pilot display is "Mickey". You can see all the team on www.f16demoteam.be web site. Current or Favourite assignmentIt's a full multirole Sqn. Bombing, fighting, air defence and even recce assignments. Even if I really like 350 Sqn ('cause it was my first one), 1 Sqn is my "official "one. First because I had no alternative but to enroll the Sqn after a special night. One of those nights you are not proud of (beers, caught red handed by camera doing some......special things!). And second because it's the Mickey's Sqn.DeploymentsA lot of countries: Canada, United States, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Deutchland, France, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Tchequie, Spain, Corsica, Morocco, UK, Scotland, Potugal, Gran Canaria, Turkey.I reach about 2 years working out of Belgium. |

Because it's the "Demo one" and it has been completely repainted for the event. In belgium, we don't use to write our name and nickname on jets because we always change. We are not assigned to one A/C .But this time, we were allowed to because it's the official F16 demo aircraft. Therefore, you can read the names of the full team on both main landing gear doors. | ||||||

The aircraft I've flown with. It was in 1996 for an air to air gunnery in Corsica. Amazing, wonderful, even if I threw up right after the landing. I was waiting for an F16 flight for a long time. A bit less than one hour looks like one minute! It was so short!!!Got just time enough to realise....not more! We took off, waited for our turn by making some aerobatics figures. Right after, we searched and ducked onto the target (flag towed by a 500 meters string). And it already was the end...... |
