I Started out at MacDill AFB. Was assigned to the 61st AMU (Top Dogs). My first jet was 79-0395. Worked A,B,C,& D models Block 10 through 30's while assigned there. When we converted I crewed 87-0364 D model. MacDill was a great time, a lot of accidents though. I remember driving in the front gate my first day and seeing a F-16 upside down at the gate. I thought wow is this gonna be cool. Did our FTD school there along with MQT. Deployed to Dobbins during one of the hurricane evacs. We had probably the best EOR shack back then. Fully stocked on fridays, I then went on to Torrejon Spain. 614th TFS. Was the DCC of 87-0242. It was the 16th AF CC jet while assigned to our unit. That was the best unit I was ever associated with. We always went to Aviano back when it was a little transient base for our war games. The California Beer parlor, The hole in the wall, Black & White. The shots of Russian fire water. Still dont remember what that stuff was. We deployed to Doha, Qatar for Desert Shield / Storm bye way of Ramstein. I remember Col. Nelson driving around on the second night picking up all the drunks because our plans had changed again. We passed out on a C-5 and woke up in Saudi. I was Advon for that. I remember when the main body came in on 2 KC-10's we were all watching and wondering how to get them down since back then all it was was a runway. Finally they all came down on ropes. That started 8 months of good times and some bad times. After we got back to Spain we PCS'd to Homestead AFB. I helped start up the 307th (Stingers). We were mainly made up of Torrejon and Hahn people. I left just before hurricane Andrew wiped it off the earth. I went from active to full time guard. Joined Selfridge up in Michigan and worked Phase, Line, P&S and whatever else they threw at me. Got out in 99 Current or Favourite assignmentThe 614th was the unit I went to war with. We were and still are a tight family. Most of us all stay in contact with each other to this day. I was very proud and honored to be associated with the men and women of the 614th. Second would be the 127th up in Michigan. They are a great group. We had a great crew up there back in our days. If they are reading this then they know who they are. One word TYNDALL.......DeploymentsSome of the ones that stand out are Camri Italy for 'Ample Train' or 'Tiger Meet'. It was a NATO cross training exercise. we learned the ropes on other NATO aircraft such as the CF-18, F-104, F-4, Tornado and some others. Good time at that base. The Italians really know how to host an event like that. Our TDY's to Aviano were a lot of fun. A lot of 12 hour shifts but you made up for it at the Cal bar. Bergen, Norway ranks up there with the best deployments. Beautiful country. Windsor, Canada is where I got my incentive ride. Did a little air show then went on a great ride. Mike Cosby was the pilot, Major back then.Other TDY / Deployments Dobbins AFB for hurricane evac Tyndall AFB Luke AFB Davis Monthan (Snow Bird) Fresno California ( helped them convert over ) Virginia Air Guard. Alpena MI Windsor, Canada ( Air Show) Hill AFB Key West Hawaii Bergin, Norway ( AWESOME ). Ramstein Zaragoza Camri (Tiger Meet / Ample train ) Aviano Doha, Qatar Saudi |

Helped start up the 307th ( Stingers). When I got there we only had about 5 birds. Then it seamed like they all came at once. Didn't really have a jet there since we were still so new. Then came hurricane Andrew.

Worked as a full time technician during the week in phase dock. then on drill weekend I was on the line. Phase was good. Our jets were old Misawa birds. Did a lot of Gear changes, stab bearings, ISA's out the rear. Did a lot of major time change stuff as well. Also did a little expeditor duty, along with P&S. Had to get out in 99 due to my Rt Knee having no more cartilidge.
