After basic and Tech school, I was assigned the the 78th AMU, Shaw AFB. The 78th was deactivated and I was moved to the 55th, and soon after got married. In July 2003 I recieved orders to the 18th AMU, Eielson AFB. I spent three years there, 1 year on the line and 2 years in Support as the TODA, also did an extra duty assignment with the Base Honor Guard. I did another two years at Shaw AFB, this time with the 79th. It was decent this time around, went on a few TDYs to Nellis, Mt. Home, and Tyndall. I had two kids as well, so I'm pretty busy being a Dad. I deployed to Kunsan AB in 2008 for a 4 month stint and returned just in time to get my assignment to Osan AB. Upon arriving at Osan I joined the 36th AMU and found everything to be much more relaxed than I originally thought it would be. I went TDY with the 36th to Red Flag Alaska, and after I got back I was offered a job at QA. I went TDY as QA to Misawa and Kadena. Finished my tour at DM
Current or Favourite assignmentWell when I arrived I was thrown straight into an ORI....fun times, but we did a great job and got an excellent overall rated for maintenance, and for the base. I also moved off base and I am living the good life in a mansion of a house right outside the ROKAF gate. It does suck being away from my family, but I am sure that this assignement will help me appreciate not only my family, but my place in the Air Force.DeploymentsWell my first deployment and only one at the moment is Kunsan, and we have kicked some major ass while we have been here, we were applauded because we only dropped two lines during an exercise and they were not for maintenance related issues. The"Wolf" has flown with us a few times and he is a pretty cool guy. I have learned quite a bit, done alot of Engine R&I, JFS, JFS Fuel Control, brakes, PDU and flight control R&I. I also went on quite a few TDYs to Nellis AFB, Mountain Home AFB, and Tyndall AFB. I had a great time on all the TDYs and I made alot of friends that I hope to keep for a very long time. |

This jet was a pretty decent bird to work on for the time I had at this base, no major breaks that I can remember, and I got signed off on most of my 5-lvl task working here. Anyone that new me at this time, would tell you I was a dirtbag, and it was true, but thats just cause I hadn't embraced my job yet. Now I love getting dirty, I love doing maintenance, I love crewing jets, theres not a feeling like it in the world.

My DCC was TSgt Mikolajic(MIKO), really great guy, but I really think he didn't like me much, I was trying really hard to get my act together, but I wasn't fast enough and I didn't work as hard as I think he wanted me too, but I am glad I had him as a DCC because he made me realize I had to work harder if I was going to make it as a Crew Chief. I also spent a good portion of time at this base as a TODA.

I had a great time working Triple Duece...she was a great jet and I had a great and reliable ADCC in SrA Hill. I have since moved on but I will always remember my time with the 79th.

My first D-Model to crew......but I haven't gotten to work on her much since she has been sent off to get CCIP upgrade...I can't wait till she comes back and I can give her a spit shine. I have SrA Wilson as my ADCC. Worked up until I was selected for QA

Played Equals and got assigned at Davis-Monthan AFB. Found my Tech School instructor here, he is now the OIC for another unit. There are a few people here that I know from other assignments. |
