The aircraft crashlanded on runway 30 at Eglin AFB at 21:26 local. The pilot ejected safely but sustained nonlife threatening injuries. The aircraft rolled, caught fire and was completely destroyed.

Suffered a nose landing gear seperation with the nose being severly damaged.
29 Sep 2020 [ w/o] 169294 USMC VMFA-121 F-35B Details
At approximately 1600 local it was reported that an F-35B made contact with a KC-130J during an air-to-air refueling evolution, resulting in the crash of the F-35B near NAS El Centro. The pilot of the F-35B ejected successfully. The KC-130J is on deck in the vicinity of Thermal Airport. All crew members of the KC-130J are safe.
