Ferry flight to NAS Patuxent River on June 3rd, 2011. Was the first F-35 to make an arrested landing on an aircraft carrier when on November 3rd, 2014, US Navy test pilot Cmdr. Tony Wilson landed this aircraft on the USS Nimitz. A few days later the aircraft was the first to night launch on November 13th, 2014. Joined by F-35C CF-05 in two weeks of at-sea development testing that included 124 arrested landings; 222 touch-and-goes; two bolters, both intentional for test purposes; and 124 catapult launches on thirty-two flights spanning 38.6 flight hours. Aircraft participated in the second set of carrier trials (known as DT-II) beginning on October 2nd, 2015 onboard the USS Eisenhower (CVN-69) for almost two weeks ending October 10th. The test was moved up from October 5th due to Hurricane Joaquin which was making it's way to the US east cost. Again the aircraft was paired up with F-35C CF-05. On February 10th, 2016 this aircraft made the first arrested landing with weapons. The test was conducted on land at NAS Patuxent River. From August 14th, 2016 to August 25th, 2016 the aircraft took part in DT-III (Developmental Testing 3) aboard the USS George Washington (CVN-73) in the Atlantic Ocean.
