USAF F-16C block 25 #83-1129 assigned to Detachment 1 from the 422nd TES seen on the ramp at Luke AFB. Note the 58th TTW patch on the fuselage side. This was seen right after the first of the block 25's were assigned to Luke. The 422nd was assigned four of the 312th TFTS jets for a time to develop combat tactics for the brand new (at the time) F-16C's. [Photo by Kevin Patrick]

In the late eighties a number of F-16's were painted in the 'European One' camouflage scheme, as this USAF F-16C block 25, #83129 and #83144, and were tested as a possible replacement of the A-10.  The proposed A-16 never came through. [USAF photo]
A-16 CAS Trials
In the late eighties this aircraft and a number of additional F-16s were painted in the 'European One' lizard camouflage scheme and were tested in the Close Air Support role as a possible replacement of the A-10 Thunderbolt. The proposed A-16 never materialized.
