USAF F-16B FSB #75-0752 has been used as a Wild Weasel testbed in the late seventies carrying an ALQ-119 ECM pod, two fuel cells, two AGM-78 Standard missiles, two AGM-45 Shrike missiles and two datalink pods on the wingtips. However this configuration has never flown operationally although it showed the possibility of using the F-16 as a SEAD platform. [USAF photo]

J-79 Testbed
Modified as F-16/79 with a General Electric J-79 engine. This engine was tested as a low-cost and lower-thrust alternative for non-NATO allies. The project never materialised because the standard Pratt & Whitney F-100 engine was made available to all who could pay for it under the Reagan Administration.

In 1981 the F-16/79 demonstrator was given a Navy scheme to make some admirals nervous. The type never went into production. [F-16.net photo].
Some guys gave the jet 'NAVY' titles and an NFWS badge on the tail to make some generals nervous.
