F-16 History

With the delivery of the advanced block 52 version of the F-16 to both 340 and 343 Mira ad Soúda AB, it was decided to create a dedicated training squadron for this block type as well. The tactics concerned with deploying the block 52 differ somewhat with the tactics for the other HAF F-16s which are block 30 and block 50. Because of the distance between Néa Anghialos and Soúda the decision was also supported for that reason.

The squadron was specifically created for the training of the block 52 crews and therefore Soúda AB was selected as the home base since this was the first to receive these new block 52 airframes.
