I did 2 years in the 510th at Aviano, 1 year and 5 months in the 524th at Cannon, 1 year in the 80th at Kunsan, 2 Years and 7 months in the 389th at Mountain Home, and I'm at Misawa now. Mountain Home was by far the best assignment I have had in my career. I was in the 389th when they had REAL aircraft. They're a bunch of F-15 weenies now.

Current or Favourite assignment

I'm currently in it.

Deployments

I went to Incirlik from Aviano for 3 months in 2001. It was awesome. Turkey is a great place. 9/11 was my last day off after returning from that deployment though. That whole day sucked balls for a lot of obvious reasons. I went to Jaber from Cannon for 5 months. It was a deployment. It was really cool though.

My Jets & Assignments

89046 [Detailed history of this F-16]

A lot of parties and a shit ton of beer. Can't remember much else about it. Oh wait, Italian pizza is way better than American pizza. And Italians not only make world famous high quality wine, but they can brew some damn good beer too. Definitely worth the two years that I was there.
89169 [Detailed history of this F-16]
Unit 524th Fighter Squadron "Hounds" [Unit History]
Period 2002 - 2003
Current: 89169  445 FLTS F-16D Block 40 Jan 2008 [act]
I started off in the 524th FS then with the re-org it changed to the 524th AMU. I only had to endure 17 months of being stationed in this hell-hole. 5 of those months were spent in Kuwait, 1.5 of those months were spent in Las Vegas, 1 months of leave, and 1.5 months in ALS. So I guess 9 months of actually working there. Not bad. But bad enough.
86286 [Detailed history of this F-16]

Period 2003 - 2004
Current: 86286  18 AS F-16C Block 30 Mar 2008 [act]
Good times. 12+ hours every day at work. Damn those block 30 LEF's. Beating skins on the CAC's drum kit 'til all hours of the night have passed. Or at least until I was too drunk to play any more. Hanging out with damn good friends. All in all it was well worth the year of my life that I spent there.
92896 [Detailed history of this F-16]
Unit 389th Fighter Squadron "Thunderbolts" [Unit History]
Period 2004 - 2007
Current: 92896  16 WS F-16C Block 52 Feb 2007 [act]
The best assignment ever was completely ruined by the BRAC. They shippedof all of the real aircraft (F-16's) and brought in more old decrepit piece of crap aircraft (F-15's) and completely screwed it all up. Other than that Mountain Home is a great place to live. Still own my house there and plan on returning when I'm done with the Air Force. ie; if/when I drop some balls and get out. Who knows when the hell that'll be.

Holy crap! I've been in for eight years now and just can stay in one place for any significant ammount of time. Misawa is my fifth base. I actually completed this PCS before my eight year mark. Japan is a really awesome place in this world. All the festivals are a lot of fun especially the salmon festivals. Catching a salmon with your hands is a very cool experience.

Steve, what's up? It's Rupp from the ole T-bolts. I am heading to Misawa in Feb. Just wondering if you could give me a heads-up on how life is like over there. You can e-mail me on this site.

Thx,

Rupp
