Maj Randy Redell started his second season with the Thunderbirds as the Operations Officer, flying the No. 7 jet. Second in command, he oversees the squadron's operations, evaluates the demonstrations, administers flight evaluations and flies safety chase and orientation flights. Maj. Redell, a Westlake Village, CA, native, entered the Air Force in 1990 from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in operations research. Prior to the team, he was an assistant operations officer, instructor pilot, and flight examiner with the F-16C Formal Training Unit, 62nd Fighter Squadron, Luke Air Force Base, AZ. As an Air Force pilot, he has logged more 2,200 hours, including 2,000 hours in the F-16A/B/C/D. |
