52nd Fighter Wing gets new commander

According to "Stars and Stripes", Col. Darryl Roberson officially assumed command of the 52nd Fighter Wing (USAFE), Spangdahlem AB, Germany, from Col. David L. Goldfein during a change-of-command ceremony in the morning hours on June 23.

56th Fighter Wing gets new commander

According to "The Arizona Republic", Col. Noel Jones took command of the 56th Fighter Wing (ACC), Luke AFB, Glendale, Arizona, on June 13.

The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, "Thunderbirds," have announced their new officers for the 2007 demonstration season.
Elements of fighter wings from three Air National Guard units have deployed to Kunsan AFB this week in support of their air expeditionary force rotations.

Command handovers at Aviano

As "Stars and Stripes" reported, both F-16 squadrons of the 31st Fighter Wing (USAFE) at Aviano Air Base, Italy, get new commanders.
The Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF) 145 Squadron, was declared fully operational by Defense Minister Teo Chee Hean at Changi Air Base in eastern Singapore Wednesday.
Air Force Col. Jeffrey G. Lofgren assumed command of the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan Air Base on Monday. He succeeds Col. Brian T. Bishop, who moves to a new Air Force assignment at the Pentagon.
Last night, a driver sped through a checkpoint at an US base and led security on a high-speed chase on the grounds before officers shot at him. The base is host to the 107th Fighter Squadron which flies the F-16 Block 30.
The bombs are heavy and so is the training schedule for student pilots under the tutelage of the 149th Fighter Wing.

Thunderbirds perform 4,000th show

The United States Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, performed their 4,000th air show May 13 at Robins Air Force Base, Ga. The show was the team's 14th of the 2006 season.
Col. Noel Jones will become Luke Air Force Base's new commander June 13, when he takes over the 56th Fighter Wing from Brigadier General Robin Rand.
Nine F-16s and approximately 100 Airmen from the 64th Aggressor Squadron left Nellis April 18 for the first-ever Red Flag-Alaska exercise, formerly known as Cope Thunder.
Despite the rigors of military operations in Iraq, including multiple attacks from insurgents, the 4th Fighter Squadron has proven it is more than ready to accomplish its mission at Balad Air Base, Iraq.
Capt. John Vargas, a 1996 graduate of the Air Force Academy, has won the 2006 Colonel James Jabara Award, presented annually by the Air Force for excellence in airmanship.
The 174th Fighter Wing is training for its largest single deployment since it went overseas during the Persian Gulf War 15 years ago.
