Six F-16 pilots from the Air National Guard's 107th Fighter Squadron returned to their Selfridge ANGB home base after three months of combat operations in Iraq. The 107th FS deployed to Kirkuk Air Base in Iraq on February 27th, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Airmen and F-16s from the 36th Fighter Squadron at Osan Air Base, South Korea, have deployed to Paya Lebar AB in Singapore to train with Singaporean Airmen during exercise Commando Sling 04-3.

Wolfpack gets new commander

Col. Robin Rand, commander of the 8th Fighter Wing - the "Wolf Pack" - relinquished command to Col. William W. Uhle Jr. in a 9 a.m. ceremony yesterday at Kunsan Air Base.
Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano has signed a bill that protects Luke Air Force Base's Auxiliary Field 1. The airfield, called Aux 1, is located about 15 miles northwest of Luke's main runway.
According to an Indian news paper, US Air Force F-16s and AWACS are set to take on the IAF during joint combat aircraft exercises to in Gwalior early next year.

Cannon wins Colombian Trophy

The 27th Fighter Wing, Cannon AFB, New Mexico, received the 2003 Colombian Trophy for best achievement in safety among all U.S. Air Force fighter and reconnaissance wings/groups.
Th U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team marks the start of their new season today, by a run down the Las Vegas strip around 15.00h local time.

PAF F-16 squadron gets more pilots

Yesterday, a graduation ceremony of the 23rd F-16 conversion course was held at the Pakistan Air Force Base Mushaf in Sargodha.
Combat air forces are clamoring for forward air control (airborne)-capable pilots. These pilots are known as FAC-As. The 310th Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, runs the only schoolhouse for F-16 Fighting Falcon pilots training to become FAC-As.
Air National Guard Col. Linda McTague does not see herself as a pioneer for women's achievements, but she realizes that other people consider her to be a role model for what women can accomplish in this country's military service. And she said she strives very hard to live up to those expectations, as well as to her own.
They take great care not to be identified with test pilots and their immortal images, burned into our brains from movies like "The Right Stuff." But if they didn't have great faith in Hill AFB's maintainers, they could consider their job just as dangerous.
The 310th Fighter Squadron stationed at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, has provided Night Vision Goggle (NVG ) training to 60 percent of the pilots who fly the Air Force's primary fighter, the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Next month, the 310th will begin training all F-16 pilots in the use of NVG's.
The Air Force plans to acquire more than 2,100 acres and permanent easements around Luke Air Force Base with $27.3 million in federal money.
Col. Mark Meyer became commander of the Montana Air National Guard 120th Fighter Wing at a Saturday morning ceremony on Gore Hill. Meyer, 51, relieved Col. Patrick Pauli, who took the position in October 2001 and is retiring after more than 30 years of service.
