Texas ANG off to support troops in Iraq

The 147th Fighter Wing of the Texas Air National guard is expected to fly to Southeast Asia late today from Ellington Field to support troops in Iraq.

Viper West season takes off

Air Combat Command's West Coast F-16, Fighting Falcon, Demonstration Team, better known as Viper West, began its 2007 season Jan. 31 in Tucson, Ariz. The team performed Feb. 17 and 18 at the Falcon and Condor Airshow in Lima, Peru.
Dropping bombs during combat sorties in Iraq has been the exception, rather than the rule, for the deployed F-16 pilots from Misawa Air Base's 14th Fighter Squadron.
Approximately 150 U.S. airmen are participating in a joint military exercise with the Peruvian air force scheduled to continue through Feb. 16 in northern Peru in the vicinity of Chiclayo.
Today, reservists from the 944th Fighter Wing at Luke AFB bid farewell to the last three F-16s after almost 20 years. The unit's F-16s are being reassigned to other locations on the recommendations of the BRAC.
Two airmen - including one who pleaded guilty to trying to throw a frog into a running jet engine - were punished in separate courts-martial at Kunsan Air Base, officials there confirmed Tuesday.
The Air National Guard's 115th Fighter Wing received the U.S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award in a ceremony on Saturday.

Misawa airmen busy at Balad

Less than two weeks after arriving in Iraq, the 14th FS commander says Misawa’s airmen have been extremely busy flying and supporting combat sorties and waging battle against mud and dust.
The Air Force is proposing to base 23 extra F-15 Eagles & F-16 Fighting Falcons, with additional personnel at Nellis AFB as a result of changes mandated by the recent BRAC process.

Selfridge ANG units begin new Iraqi mission

Air National Guardsmen and F-16s from Selfridge Air National Guard Base arrived in Iraq last week to fly missions as part of the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing, according to a press release.

Last four 119th FW F-16s leave Fargo base

The last four F-16 Fighting Falcons of the North Dakota Air National Guard left their Fargo base and headed to the military bone yard in Arizona. On route the jets performed a final fly past of the state capital, Bismarck.
Six F-16C/D Fighting Falcons from the 354th Fighter Wing at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, are deployed to Singapore to participate in the second iteration of Exercise Commando Sling, which began Jan. 8 and runs through Jan. 26.
A new training mission arrived at Incirlik Air Base. In three waves, 16 F-16CJs from the 22nd FS taxied onto the Golf Loop where they will hang their wings over the next six to seven weeks.
