F-16 Mishap News



The pilot of an F-16 had insufficient altitude and excessive airspeed, preventing him from completing a maneuver during an aerial demonstration at the Kingsville Naval Air Station, Texas, air show, resulting in a fatal crash March 19.
A U.S. Air Force F-16CG fighter jet crashed near a Canadian military base in northeastern Alberta during joint training exercises late on Wednesday, but the pilot sustained only minor injuries.

Two U.S. Air Force F-16s returning from an air show came too close to an American Airlines jet and a small private plane this week outside Washington.
Official ROCAF report concludes that the F-16 crash on August 18th 1999, was caused by malfunction of the engine nozzle control section. While the aircraft was going around, the nozzle was placed at full open position and led to insufficient thrust. After inspecting the subsystem on all remaining aircraft, the Chief of Staff ordered that the fleet will resume flying.
Israel Air Force Major Yonatan Begin, grandson of late Prime Minister Menachem Begin, was confirmed dead by pathology officials Wednesday night after the F- 16 fighter he piloted crashed into the sea two days ago.
