An F-16 fighter jet was sent to investigate a plane carrying Gov. Jeb Bush after it lost radio contact Wednesday on approach to Reagan National Airport in Washington. It was unclear why the plane lost radio contact at 7:30 a.m. Once contact was re-established, controllers were able to authenticate that they were who they said they were.

New Turkish provocations over the Agean

A new Turkish provocation was recorded yesterday at 11 AM over the Aegean Sea during a small scale aeronautic military exercise, code-named 'Triena' (Trident). This drill was taking place in the sea region between the islands of Limnos and Lesvos.

Two Turkish F-16 jets yesterday violated the Athens Flight Information Region to harass a Greek P3-Orion naval aircraft on a training flight about 80 kilometers (50 miles) southeast of Rhodes.
Yesterday, an Israeli F-16 dropped a one-ton bomb on the residence of Salah Shehadeh, the military chief of Hamas in the Gaza Strip whom the Israelis accuse of being "directly responsible for initiating and directing dozens of attacks," killing him and fourteen others.

At least two people were wounded in southern Gaza Sunday when an Israeli F-16 jet fired a missile at the house where an Islamic radical once lived, Palestinian security sources said.

First combat success for F-16MLU

Yesterday, a Dutch F-16AM (J-063) shot down a Serbian MiG-29 over former Yugoslavia. This is the first combat success for Dutch F16's and it is also the first combat success for the new MLU version of the F16.
Seventy-five people have been killed in a big Turkish military operation against Kurdish rebels in the mountainous southeast of the country, military officials said on Wednesday.
Turkey said four fighter aircraft belonging to its ancient rival Greece on Thursday trailed and obstructed two of its warplanes patrolling over the Aegean Sea.
Greek fighters on Tuesday intercepted about 16 Turkish jets that violated Greek airspace over the Aegean Sea and flew close to a helicopter carrying Defense Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos, government officials said.

Israeli F-16s strike south of Beirut

Israeli F-16s on Monday rocketed suspected Palestinian guerrilla targets south of Beirut. No casualties were reported in the attack -- the 66th air assault on Lebanon this year.
Turkish F-16s have begun flying over Cyprus armed with live ammunition for the first time in 10 months in retaliation for Greek participation in Greek Cypriot military maneuvers on Cyprus. The Turkish F-16 jets would thus have broken the agreement made with Washington last year not to fly armed over the island.
According to Greece, two Turkish F-16s buzzed the C-130 Hercules carrying the Greek Defense Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos on Monday, before being intercepted by Greekjets taking part in a Greek-Cypriot military exercise on the divided island.
