August 5, 2003 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Pakistani Foreign Office spokes-man Masood Khan gave a press briefing in which he downplayed a report that U.S. might agree to sell F-16 combat aircraft to India during the upcoming defence talks between the two countries in Washington later this week. He however said it would be a "very disturbing development" if the report turned out to be correct. Such a move would have "a very negative impact" on the security situation in South Asia, according to him.
