Lockheed Martin plans to market a new F-16 radar to users in the Middle East. The radar would be offered to U.S. allies that already deploy the F-16C/D aircraft.
The radar is said to significantly improve the aircraft's performance in air-to-air and air-to-ground operations.
It will be installed in
Greece's
block 52+ F-16 aircraft. The radar was produced in April and is being prepared in the first batch of F-16s scheduled for delivery to Greece in October.
Executives identified the system as the APG-68[V]9 radar, manufactured by Northrop Grumman. The radar has been flight tested by the U.S. Air Force and is said to have met or exceeded the performance specifications of the service.
